Sunset in Hawaii

Close your eyes.

You’re standing lightly on your feet

floating above the ground

imagine shade like you’ve escaped the heat

the winds don’t make a sound

On your shoulders they rest calmly

They have not much to do

But help me set the stage, and fondly

i’ll reveal what I see for you

Your eyelids they are resting

What stresses do they know?

Your hair the sun’s caressing

As it turns to set real slow

The sand’s between your toes

You feel hugged all around

I’m here and serenity flows

for there’s only left one sound

Waves of twilight, waves of evening

They push, pull, and then return

But can you image what I’m seeing?

Well I will help you to discern

A princess dressed so finely

I freeze in place and stare

She stands there so divinely

I deny myself the air

She’s crowned in lovely flowers

Her throne lies in my soul

Above all hearts hers towers

And mine she long ago stole

The sky is dim but orange

there’s pink in there somewhere too

screw rhyming things with orange

I see a tinge of green honey dew

We’re alone there on that beach

I don’t know it’s Waikiki or Maui

and hot love kisses for us each

I sure hope we make it to Hawaii

You open your eyes slowly

I’ve been here this whole time

You smile at me so lovely

Oh how great, this true love of mine
